Farmers have been agitating along the border of Delhi for 109 days demanding the repeal of three new agricultural laws. They have now started building pucca houses at the place of protest after taking out the cold weather in the raw houses of Teen. So far 25 such houses have been built on the Tikri border. Farmers leaders want to build 1000 to 2000 such houses before the onset of the scorching summer. Most of these will be built along the Singhu and Tikri borders adjoining Haryana. Manjit Singh Rai, president of the farmers’ organization BKU (Doaba), says, “We will build pucca houses to escape the heat.” AC will also be installed in those homes for the elderly women involved in the demonstration. Manjeet says that the government is doing everything to stop us. The SHO here tried to stop us from building houses. The authorities also created pressure, but we are not going to back down. ‘
