Rabindra Narain Singh Elected as VHP President

Several changes were made in the organization on the first day of the two-day meeting of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s Central Managing Committee and the Board of Trustees. Orthopedic surgeon and Padma Shri awardee Dr Ravindra Narayan Singh was on Saturday elected as the new President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Singh, who belongs to Bihar, was till now the vice-president of the organization. He received the Padma Shri in 2010 for his contribution to the field of medical science, which is the country’s fourth highest civilian honor.

VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said at a press conference, “Our board of trustees today unanimously elected Ravindra Narayan Singh as our president.” Singh replaces Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje, who was the organization’s president since April 2018.

Jain said, “Kokje is now 82 years old. He wanted to be relieved of his duties as VHP President. The election has been held according to his wishes and our constitution.” He said Singh is a well-known bone surgeon and is known for his contribution in social, religious, medical and various other fields. “The election of such a person as VHP president is a matter of pride for all of us,” he said.

The newly elected president of the organization was present at the press conference and shared the stage with Jain and other VHP leaders. Jain said that elections were also held for the post of general secretary and the current general secretary of the organization Milind Parande was unanimously re-elected to the post. The election for the post of president and general secretary took place on Saturday morning amid a two-day meeting of the organization’s governing council and board of trustees in Faridabad.

At the same time, Milid Parande was again elected as the Union General Secretary. Dr. Singh hails from Bihar. Alok Kumar will continue as working president and Champat Rai as central vice-president. Along with this, the responsibilities of many secretaries were changed. The Central Vice President Jagannath Shahi will now be in the Central Satsang and Dharmacharya Toli. Former judge Vishnu Narayan Kokje will also be a member of the central team.
