The State Election Commission has announced the Panchayat elections in Rajasthan. Voting for the election of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members of six districts Bharatpur, Dausa, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Sawai Madhopur and Sirohi will be held in three phases. According to the State Election Commission, polling will be held on August 26 for the first phase, August 29 for the second phase and September 1 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm for the third phase. Whereas on September 4, the counting of votes will be done at the respective district headquarters.
According to the commission, with the announcement of the election schedule, the model code of conduct has come into force in the constituencies of all these 6 districts with immediate effect, which will remain in effect till the election process is over.
Election commissioner P.S. Mehra said that there will be a complete ban on election rallies, general meetings in view of Kovid-19. Candidates will be able to do door-to-door public relations with only five supporters.
He said that the notification for the three phases of elections will be issued on August 11. Nomination papers can be submitted till August 16, 3 pm. Nomination papers will not be submitted on 15th August (Sunday). Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on August 17, while the names can be withdrawn till 3 pm on August 18.
He told that the counting of votes will be held on September 4 at the district headquarters. The election of Pramukh, Pradhan will be held on September 6 (Monday) while the election of Deputy Chief, Vice President will be held on September 7 (Tuesday).
The limit of expenditure on contesting elections for Zilla Parishad member has been fixed at Rs 1.50 lakh. The maximum expenditure limit for Panchayat Samiti member has been fixed at Rs.75 thousand.
