SC: States Must Implement ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ Scheme By July 31

During the first wave of the Corona pandemic, a large number of migrant laborers had to migrate. Today a big decision has come from the Supreme Court giving relief to the migrant laborers. The Supreme Court has said that all states should implement One Nation, One Ration Card by July 31.

Along with this, the court said that the central government and NIC should prepare a portal for the registration of unorganized workers by July 31. The court said in its order that the states should prepare a plan to provide free ration to the workers, the central government should provide ration. Also, community kitchens continued till the pandemic.

The Supreme Court heard this issue in great detail. The main point of this hearing was that the workers of the unorganized sector do not have any record with the government. Therefore, in the event of a disaster, no relief can reach them directly. In such a situation, the Supreme Court has fixed July 21 as the deadline for the portal containing the information of migrant laborers.

Discussion is going on for this portal for the last two years. All migrant laborers will be registered on this portal and they will have an identity. This will help the government to take the scheme to all.

Along with this, the Supreme Court has also given a clear order regarding One Nation, One Ration Card that all states will have to implement it by July 31. The food to be given to the laborers and the poor through community kitchens continued to be epidemic. Let us tell you that a small part of this order has been read, a detailed order is yet to come on it.
