SVCC Celebrates 162nd Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in Bangkok

The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) at the Embassy of India, Bangkok, commemorated the 162nd birth anniversary of the great spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda on Tuesday, 14 January 2025.

The event featured an enlightening academic talk on “The Ideas of Swami Vivekananda in the Contemporary World Order” by Associate Professor Dr. Sophana Srichampa, Advisor to the Centre for Bharat Studies, Research Institute for Languages & Cultures of Asia, Mahidol University, Bangkok. The thought-provoking address highlighted Swami Vivekananda’s enduring relevance in today’s global context.

Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Bangkok, Ms. Paulomi Tripathi, opened the event with an inspiring inaugural speech, emphasizing the profound teachings and life journey of Swami Vivekananda. Renowned author and scholar Dr. Anirban Ganguly also shared his insights on Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, touching on its significance in fostering Indo-Thai relations.

A musical Jugalbandi of Tabla and Sarod, performed by Indian artists Shri Nilimesh Chakraborty (Tabla) and Shri Rupak Dey (Sarod), captivated the audience with its soulful melodies, adding a cultural dimension to the celebration.

The event saw the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Ambassador of India to Thailand Shri Nagesh Singh, Ms. Anuttama Ganguly, Secretary, Vivekananda International Foundation, Former Thai Ambassador Mr. Krit Kraichitti, and distinguished members of the Indian diaspora in Thailand.

This celebration was a fitting tribute to Swami Vivekananda’s enduring legacy, inspiring unity, and spiritual growth across cultures and nations.
