Thailand Comes Together for the 11th International Day of Yoga

Bangkok, Thailand — The grounds of Chulalongkorn University came alive this morning as more than 4,000 participants gathered to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) in Bangkok. With the theme “Yoga for Unity and Sustainability,” the event radiated a powerful sense of community, health, and global consciousness — and Indo Thai News was there to witness it first-hand.

This event marked the culmination of 100 days of yoga celebrations across Thailand, with over 30 events held nationwide to honor 10 years of International Day of Yoga. The synchronized performance of the Common Yoga Protocol by thousands of attendees reflected this year’s global message: Yoga for One Earth, One Health.

The event opened with welcome remarks by  Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Thailand, Mr. Nagesh Singh, who emphasized yoga’s contribution to physical, mental, and environmental well-being, reinforcing the importance of unity and sustainability in today’s world.

Joining the celebration as Guests of Honor were Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University. Both leaders encouraged participants to embrace yoga as a way to enhance well-being and live more consciously, while also acknowledging how the rising popularity of yoga has strengthened Indo-Thai cultural ties.

As media on the ground, Indo Thai News captured the vibrant energy and meaningful exchanges that defined the day — from early morning stretches to shared moments of reflection, unity, and joy. The overwhelming turnout and participation demonstrated that yoga in Thailand has evolved into more than a practice — it’s a movement for sustainable, holistic living.
