Thailand’s New Ambassador to India Strengthens Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, India – Ms. Chavanart Thangsumphant, the newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to India, has officially begun her tenure, expressing her commitment to strengthening the longstanding Thailand-India relationship.

In a heartfelt message, Ambassador Chavanart extended warm greetings to Thai nationals and friends of Thailand in India, emphasizing the honor of serving as Thailand’s representative. She received the gracious Royal Command from His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua to assume her new role after serving as Thailand’s Ambassador to Finland for over three years. Arriving in New Delhi on March 2, 2025, she brings enthusiasm and dedication to her new post in a country of immense global influence.

Ambassador Chavanart highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Thailand and India, which spans history, culture, and shared values. She reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to regional cooperation, particularly through BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation), where both nations actively collaborate. Thailand will host the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok on April 4, 2025, with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi confirming his participation. The summit aims to further regional prosperity and enhance Thailand-India cooperation.

She also acknowledged the alignment between India’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan (Self-Reliant India) and Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, introduced by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great. Both policies focus on sustainable economic resilience, infrastructure, digital transformation, and human capital development.

Beyond economic ties, Ambassador Chavanart emphasized the importance of people-to-people connections, cultural exchanges, education, and tourism in strengthening bilateral relations. She pledged to work closely with Thai and Indian communities in both nations to cultivate mutual understanding and shared appreciation.

Concluding her message, she extended warm wishes to both nations, stating, “Together, let us work toward creating remarkable milestones in Thailand-India relations. Happy Holi!”

Her appointment marks a promising new chapter in Thailand-India relations, reinforcing the strong diplomatic, economic, and cultural bonds between the two nations.
