Sarma had made a controversial statement regarding Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) chairman Hagrama Mohilary. The Congress had complained to the Election Commission. Sarma was accused of threatening the joint candidate of Congress and BPF, Mohilary, that he would be sent to jail using the NIA.

Here, the Election Commission has clarified that the car had broken down. After this, the election officials had to take a lift in the BJP candidate’s car. The Commission has suspended 4 officers in this case. He also gave instructions to hold a re-election at a booth concerned.
