The Supreme Court has given a big relief to the Modi government and gave a go ahead to the Central Vista project. The environment and some other issues were heard in the court but the bench approved the scheme with a 2-1 majority. With this order of the Supreme Court, the Central Vista project was approved. With this, the way for the construction of the new building of Parliament has been cleared.
In fact, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Parliament building on December 10 last year. However, due to a petition filed on environment and other issues, the Supreme Court had stopped the construction work.
In its judgment, the court upheld the recommendations made by the Ministry of Environment and said to take care of environment during construction. The construction of the smog tower during construction and before the construction also asked for the approval of the Heritage Committee. The court while giving the verdict believed that the change of land use by the DDA was correct.
The new Parliament building is a part of the Central Vista project. Under this, a new triangular building of Parliament will be built, which will seat 900 to 1200 MPs together. Construction of the new Parliament building by 15 August by 2022 Will be taken.
The way of construction has been cleared by the order of the Supreme Court, but the politics is going on for the huge expenditure. Opposition is constantly attacking the Modi government, calling the Central Vista project wasteful.
