Location : Sirindhorn District, Ubon Ratchathani Province in Thailand
Right across the border of Laos, located on top of a hill, as Buddhist temples often are, this beautiful temple changes completely when the sun sets and it gets dark and has a spectacular views over the surrounding Thai/Laos border area.
Wat Sirindhorn Wararam Phu Prao or popularly called fluorescence is a beautiful temple, and a must-visit if you’re a photo enthusiast looking for astro-photography because of the temple’s amazing fluorescent tree and noctilucent stones in the grounds, which lend a magical feeling to the whole experience. At night, the temple shows a nice Tree of Life and flower patterns on the ground that have been painted with luminescent paint.
This Buddhist temple boasts the main hall with nice artwork that is illuminated at dusk. The main artwork is a ceramic tiles wall which is nice to look at during the day but will look very impressive when illuminated. Highlights of the temple is the ‘glow-in-the-dark’ epithet image of the Kanlapaphruek painting on the back wall of the temple in the evening. Come here around 6 PM to 8 PM and wait for the magical moment.
How to get there:
From the city to the district, Ubon Sirindhorn, the only path to the Chong Mek border. And yet before the Chong Mek Sirindhorn Dam, about 2 km you will see that car noticed the sign on the left temple.
