Ambassador of India to Thailand H.E. Ms. Suchitra Durai met with Ms. Vassana Ngamduangchai, Library Director of the National Library of Thailand, and presented books ranging from Indian art, history, literature, and culture. The books were handed over in a ceremony held on February 22, 2022, at the National Library of Thailand.
The Thai National Library offers a large collection of Thai manuscripts, printed publications, audio-visual materials, and digital resources on a wide range of topics. It also has a large collection of books on world history, current events, and foreign language literature.
Ambassador Suchitra Durai presented a collection of well-known and respected publications on Buddhism, Indian epics, history, culture, literature, and notable people in English, Hindi, and 21 Indian regional languages. Several big Thai institutions have received similar bundles of books.
In her remarks, the Ambassador expressed her delight at the opportunity to gift these volumes to Thailand’s National Library on diverse aspects of India. She also expressed India’s intention to cooperate closely with Thailand and develop stronger relationships with the Thai people. India has had tremendous progress in the last decade, not just in the digital technology sector but also in other vital socioeconomic areas, opening up countless opportunities for India and Thailand to strengthen and nurture their partnership.
